GEOCOG gives walking tours and sensory workshops that help people appreciate the environments they encounter.
Building Landscape Knowledge Through Community Workshops
We live in a time when our human systems have surpassed geologic forces and the world around us is changing faster than we can keep up. Taking a moment to stop and spend time observing and reflecting on the landscapes around us helps us make sense of the changes, and helps us build new knowledge about our role in the world.
Whether it’s a walk through an industrial zone, a natural pigments workshop, forest therapy, a scent-mapping activity in a commercial corridor, or an afternoon watching movement on a river bank, our environmental workshops reframe the way participants experience the world around them. By bringing together contemporary models of the senses and a deep practice of observing, participants build skill sets for inquiry and they learn to describe, interpret, and evaluate the landscapes and geographies that surround us.
We’re always taking walks in the greater Cleveland area, and we’d love to have you join us.
